An important message regarding the Achieve Green NW conference...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 21, 2009

Achieve Green NW responds responsibly by “going virtual”
The June 1-3 conference is postponed and will re-emerge in coming months as a low-cost online workshop series more accessible to cash-strapped businesses and individuals

Due to the economic realities facing many local businesses and individuals who are under-employed and unemployed, the Achieve Green NW conference organizers today decided to postpone the event and re-invent it as a lower-cost online workshop series to be offered throughout the summer months.

“The response to Achieve Green NW was extremely positive from sponsors, exhibitors, speakers and potential registrants,” stated Jeff Blosser, Achieve Green NW conference chair and Executive Director of the Oregon Convention Center. “But in this tough economy, we take to heart that the cost to attend – in real dollars and in time away from work or not spent looking for employment – is too much at this time for many Oregonians. Our response: let’s get innovative.”

The conference was originally scheduled to be held at the Oregon Convention Center June 1-3 and offered keynote speakers and a series of panel discussions designed to educate businesses, organizations and individuals on a wide range of green topics including building management, employee recruitment, marketing and purchasing. Networking receptions and an electronic packet of “how-to” tools were included in the cost of registration. Many of the over 50 experts will contribute to the online series to be announced in early June.
